You have sold every piece of me so cheaply
To each and every merchant in this town Of destitutes and thieves, and now so deeply You say you want me back in beauty’s gown. You have sold every piece of me by pound To hungry monsters, their mouths wide-open, And yet you resolute and say you’re bound By love more powerful than souls’ deep hopen’ [hoping] You have sold every piece of me in threads Shredded and pulled, twisted and looped On fingers crooked by sinful deeds and I, I dread Claws, brutal flight, the swooping, How it lingers… I have been sold by you and sold again, Few rusted pennies hang in pocket ripped, My journey towards nothingness began As I belong inside this vaulted crypt.
